Trust & Safety
How we protect you — and what we don’t do
Halal Pages is built to help Muslims find and message listings, and connect in the marketplace. Here is how we approach data security, listing checks, and where our responsibility ends.
Sign-in and sessions
We use industry-standard session cookies that are http-only (not readable by page scripts) and, in production, only sent over HTTPS. When a database is configured, session data is stored server-side rather than in the browser. You can sign in with Google OAuth or email and password; passwords are handled with secure hashing—we never store plain-text passwords.
How we use your information
We collect and use personal data only as needed to run the directory and your account—for example, profile details, messages you send through the platform, and contact requests. We do not sell your data. For the full picture of what we collect and your rights, please read our Privacy policy when you have a moment.
What we check on listings
Before treating a listing as having a basic online presence check, we verify that a relevant public profile exists—such as Google Business Profile, Checkatrade, or MyBuilder—that appears to match. That check does not review quality, halal compliance, insurance, licensing, or suitability. It is not a recommendation or endorsement; you should always do your own diligence before visiting, contacting, or relying on a listing.
We connect people — we don’t run the listings
Halal Pages is a discovery and introduction platform. Any visit, booking, agreement for work, catering, services, or goods is strictly between you and the person or organisation behind the listing. We are not a party to those arrangements and we do not supervise, guarantee, or insure the outcome.
We are not responsible for the quality, timing, safety, legality, accuracy, halal status of specific preparations, pricing, disputes, refunds, or any loss arising from interacting with a listing. Always satisfy yourself before you visit, commit, or pay.
Nothing on this page overrides our Terms of Service or Privacy policy; if there is a conflict, those documents take precedence.
Buying and selling on Marketplace
The Halal Pages marketplace lets members list personal items for sale. Admin review checks basic listing quality but is not an endorsement of the item, seller, or price. We are a middleman that helps people find each other — we do not process payments, hold funds, store goods, or guarantee transactions.
Any sale is strictly between the buyer and seller. We are not responsible for the condition, legality, halal suitability, delivery, pricing, disputes, refunds, or any loss arising from a sale (or a sale that does not happen). Meet in safe public places, inspect items before paying, verify who you are dealing with, and never send money without seeing the goods.
Posting and responding to item requests
Members can also post requests for items they need (for example furniture or household goods). Admin review checks basic request quality but is not an endorsement of the requester, any person who responds, or anything offered. Halal Pages only facilitates introductions and messaging — we do not source items, verify that a responder actually has an item, handle payments, or guarantee that a request will be fulfilled.
If you post a request, you are responsible for your own due diligence before meeting anyone, accepting goods, or paying. If you respond to a request, the same applies: inspect any item, agree terms directly with the other person, and satisfy yourself about safety and suitability. We are not a party to any arrangement between requesters and responders and take no responsibility for outcomes, quality, legality, halal status, disputes, or financial loss.
Prohibited items and reporting
You must not list or request prohibited, illegal, stolen, dangerous, or offensive items. We may remove content and restrict accounts that breach our rules. If a listing, request, or message looks misleading or unsafe, report it via our contact form with as much detail as you can.
See something wrong?
If a listing looks misleading or unsafe, tell us. Include a link to the listing and as much detail as you can so we can review it fairly.
